Neuro-Emotional Technique

Previously we talked about the triad, or triangle, of health and subluxations. One of the sides of this triangle is emotional, this is where N.E.T. comes into play. Neuro Emotional Technique, or N.E.T., is not psychology or psychiatry but is a physiological practice. This means that it is not dealing with psychological problems or replacing talk therapy, but it deals with bodily function and the patient’s “emotional reality”. Emotional reality does not need to be true reality, this simply can be a perception of reality or how the patient’s body emotionally perceived some event.

If your body has an emotional block or NEC, then it will be unable to heal fully. In order to clear this emotional block the practitioner will use muscle testing with different stimuli being put into the body. Most of these stimuli are words or phrases, however, there may be some bodily entry points used as well.

The practitioner will use the acupuncture meridian pulse points with specific verbiage to find the emotion that is causing the block. The patient and practitioner will then extrapolate this emotion back to the original event that caused the block. In order to clear this block, the patient will then go through a method similar to the F.A.S.T. technique to link the subconscious to the conscious and alleviate the block. The practitioner may then determine to take further steps into connected emotions to the event, attacking the emotion from another angle, or using homeopathy to help or advance the healing process.

When emotions are felt, the brain creates and releases hormones and other chemicals signaling the body to create specific proteins or polypeptides. Until the emotion is properly processed, these proteins will continued to be made. These proteins cause the pain and or subluxations in the specific area to continue. This could present as a problem that persists even after previously being treated multiple times.

When NET is done, the memory centers of the brain are targeted, as seen in the brain scans above. As you can see, there is a noted reduction in these memory centers activating to the stimuli given. When NET is performed, we bring these subconscious problems to the conscious and link the body with the mind, allowing the nervous system to switch gears and process the emotion.

For example, Suzy has chronic neck pain. She has gotten pain medications from her PCP for it and goes to the chiropractor regularly. Anything that Suzy tries seems to not help the neck pain or only helps temporarily. If you ask the Chiropractor, they would probably say that she constantly has the same listings, or needs the same adjustment every time. Suzy’s friend one day refers her to a NET practitioner, and she decides that she would try it out. She sets up the appointment and heads in. At her appointment, the practitioner used muscle tests and talking to find the root of the problem. During the session, some memories that Suzy didn’t even remember were pulled up. She didn’t realize that she had emotional issues with these memories until after the emotions were identified and she talked through it for a minute. When these emotions and memories were identified, the practitioner had her “link up” by using things similar to the FAST method. After having her session, she noticed that she feels lighter, she also seems to have the neck pain completely gone. She is super pleased with her session and will be returning to see what else may be cleared.

Obviously, this is an ideal situation. Not all pain or recurring problems are due to emotions, however, it may be a factor. Also, there may not be any obvious problems to indicate NET but it may still be warranted. I personally do NET-only sessions if wanted, however, the majority of times it is an incidental finding with a muscle test that I then quickly address if the patient is willing.
